A popular choice of therapies amongst my clients; is the walk & talk sessions 'al fresco!'
We take a slow and mindful walk through a forest, a wood, canal path or other green spaces; allowing our senses to be fully immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of our surroundings whilst exploring our inner most thoughts and feelings in a safe and relaxed environment.
We have been commissioned by North West Leicestershire District Council to design, develop and deliver a Youth Resilience Building Project which encourages young people to learn about their mental health, to build their resilience and learn how to access the National Forest and its established walks for well-being purposes.
I am a Qualified Counsellor who specialises in working with abuse & trauma.
My passion is to improve the lives of young people who have experienced trauma and abuse in their childhood; which is otherwise referred to as ACEs (adverse childhood experiences).
Currently I provide a counselling and well-being service to
Park Lodge Project who support 16-25 year olds that are homeless; including care leavers, looked after children and unaccompanied asylum seekers.
As part of our partnership working; I am supporting the project CEO to implement a psychologically informed environment (PIE) which involves staff training, and implementing trauma informed care (TIC) as a new practice framework and improving therapeutic approaches to working with vulnerable and challenging young people.
I am currently in the process of completing my Forest School Leader Training and will be offering weekday and weekend play sessions for parents to book children in to; as well as developing a series of nature based play sessions in partnership with schools, nurseries and services commissioned by the council.
